"The best on-time performance for any Amtrak route during the first quarter belonged to the Chicago-Milwaukee Hiawatha service, which recorded 95.1% customer on-time performance. The worst was Auto Train, with an on-time rate of just 24.2%. Eight long-distance trains recorded on-time performance of less than 50%." https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/no-long-distance-routes-meet-fra-on-time-standard-in-latest-amtrak-stats/
"Public benefits metrics, included for the first time in the FY 2022 first quarter report, show that in FY 2021 Amtrak served 67,835 riders in areas not well-served by other modes of intercity transportation, such as air or intercity buses."

"The benefit to rural areas is one of the criteria for weighing potential corridor service…Recent efforts by Montana’s Big Sky Passenger Authority to run trains on the route of the North Coast Hiawatha…could also get a boost…The clear front-runners will be states and operating authorities who have…a local match…Mere “expressions of interest” won’t be nearly enough." https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/fra-unveils-corridor-id-and-development-program-news-and-analysis/
Among many other issues called out in Amtrak's report, "Senior IT officials told us the assumption to relocate or replace these IT staff was not feasible in 2019 or now, primarily because of the significant operational disruption that would result from losing so many people with company-specific technology knowledge." https://www.railwayage.com/passenger/intercity/oig-to-amtrak-update-and-verify-unified-operations-center-business-case/
--I figured this out without the "Getting started video." I never watch videos. If something is so complex that it needs a video, it's been badly designed.
Oh, and one more thing. "You need an ORCA card to use the myORCA app." So I haven't bothered.
The new Orca website myorca.com is ok, but I have some minor complaints.
--It has all sorts of Google trackers.
--There is no (obvious) way to transfer full accounts from the old site; you have to do it one card at a time.
--If you want to set up autoload, you can't do it from the page where you add your card. You need to do it from Payment Settings in the main menu, then go back to My Cards.

"Another challenge has been getting resources to the highest-need communities. This problem begins at a macro level, where states and localities with the greatest resources and experience routinely receive a disproportionate share of funding, likely in part because larger states have more advanced technical support for grant writing." https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/public-and-social-sector/our-insights/delivering-on-the-promise-of-federal-infrastructure-funds-in-states
